Couple of Columbus & BT "issues"....answers appreciated

Featured Replies

Hello all, so I've splashed a bit of cash and bought a Ross Tech cable, retrofitted a Columbus & Bluetooth into my 08 Octavia L&K and now have a couple of niggling faults..

Most annoying is that before I fitted the BT module 7P6 035 730 F the steering wheel controls were working for the Columbus, now they're not for some reason :-( I have the 4 spoke wheel with controls on it and have coded it as follows

Coding: 0013042

I have firmware 4020 on the columbus and it's coded as

Coding: 06000402000100210000.

My second niggle is that the Phone works fine via the Columbus but the "Phone" menu doesn't appear on my maxidot, I'm guessing this is because I have the wrong BT module, 7P6 035 730 F that isn't compatible with my pre-fl maxidot? The BT is coded

Coding: 0300000000010110

and nearly the last of my niggles

I can see and select Radio and Navigation menu's via the stalk for Maxidot when I first start the car but if I select either, the maxidot displays the right information for that menu (including a different station name if I change stations) but freezes on that selection and I cannot then go back out of either menu using the stalk.

And finally I can see that my CAN gateway is Part No SW: 1K0 907 530 P, and thought that 2008 cars were OK but looking at the Ross Tech wiki it would appear I'm likely to get battery drain issues with this revision and need a 1K0 907 530 C?

Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated.

Thx.

I had problems with a 3T0 unit I fitted to my previous Octavia.

I exchanged it with my supplier for a 1Z0 unit and everything worked fine.

Possibly you need to change the firmware on the Columbus to get it to work with the MFSW.

But there maybe something not coded correctly, but I know nothing about coding.

These issues are not related to coding.

- to fix MFSW and Maxidot problems in pre-FL Octavia you need to load modified Columbus firmware. If you currently have a 4020, then you can quickly update it with this - http://depositfiles.com/files/ee1axt3aa

- 7P6 035 730 F is not compatible with Maxidot in pre-FL Octavia and there will be no Phone menu, however you can fully control your phone from Columbus.

- your CAN gateway is ok, no battery drain problem with it.

Thanks Josi, very helpful, I had a feeling it might need a firmware fix for the mfsw.

Great news about the CAN gateway as I didn't fancy changing it.

Now just need to swap my BT module for an older one so I can get it showing in Maxidot....... :wonder:
