Loss of power

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Please forgive me if this is not in the correct section but IT is not my strong point.

I have not been on the site for a long time as my Octavia 2 has been so reliable (115k and only reqd discs/pads battery and tyres)

But................., The fan belt tensioner was making a rattle at idle so I changed this today. Engine now very quiet but now have a loss of power, and will only do about 70. Because I had moved the fuel filter to one side to gain access I have changed the filter in case I disturbed some debris but is still no better.

I think it is to much of a coincidence that this happened straight after changing the tensioner, but I suppose it may not be related.

Any thoughts anyone!

Thanks

have you tried disconnecting battery for 40 mins or so, to reset ecu. Might work, if not might need codes read.

All sorted now. Went back to basics and not to believe in coincidences. As I had removed the air pipe to get at the tensioner, checked this first. The seal was not seated correctly confusing the air flow sensor I guess.

Many thanks
