A problem or just paranoia ?

Featured Replies

I have recently noticed that when I sometimes start my car from cold and go to pull off (using self shift or whatever it is called) after it gets to around 2,000 rpm in 1st it kinda lags/stutters for a bout 500 rpm then fine for say a 1,000 rpm then again for a couple hundred rpm more. I have tried to replicate this after it has happened by going back down to 1st but never happens again. It seams to be a when cold occurrence or left overnight/ at work (8ish hours). Can anyone shed some light on this please ?

Thanks

I suggest that you look at when its put in D when cold under the exact same situation and ambient temperature

and how soon it changes up to 2nd and 3rd.

Is there a particular reason that you want to drive off in 1st manually from cold and keep or hold it in 1st for so long?

I guess its just habit i have got, never really use it in D much and I try to stay away from S (I like my licence) but cant resist at times!

Mines does the same, think its just the engine trying to heat up quicker usaly goes away once i shift up

Ah right, yeah i never have the problem in 2nd even just after or during when I change up.

Happens to mine when cold quite violently.

It's of the engines slight misfires when cold.

So is that anything to worry about ? A service ? Or anything like that ?

I would try starting the car and driving in Automatic (D) when started from cold & see how it changes up.

(i am just up the road from you now at the Minmore Hotel in a red vRS, away to head south over the Lecht)
