Featured Replies

Hi guys this is my first post just like to say hello and hope you can help,Im having a light rattle sounds like the brakes when going over bumps, seems to stop when i slightly press the brakes??? could it be the sliders on the calipers?? also since going on holiday to cornwall and grounding the car on the campsite as it was soft sand the exhaust has got an annoying rattle at tick over and at about 1200 rpm, sounds like its coming from the front of the pipe also a rattle near the center of the car on the exhaust sounds like a heat shield but ive looked underneath and they all seen to be fine??? I know the car is getting older just dont want to spend mega bucks to get it sorted...lol...

Thanks for looking

Simon

Check that your front brake pads are correctly fitted. The inner pads are handed and have directional wheel rotation arrows on the leaf spring which fits inside the piston. Fitted wrongly, they will rattle until the brakes are applied.

The Superb is very low to the ground. Fit a skid plate if you are going off the road with it.

rotodiesel.

The previous owner of my Superb had this issue. It occurs sometimes with after market pads. Apparently Skoda OEM pads don't rattle/clunk.

Get some decent aftermarket pads (I don't know what you guys have there, but I am very happy with Remsa pads) and check that you have antivibrating layer on the back of each pad. Also when installing pads, move them without caliper inside the frame to check if there is too big movement or not.

But first follow the advice of rotodiesel

You mean the round springs at rear calipers?

No i mean the anti rattle shims that go at the top or the rear pads.
