engine stalled now have warning lights :-(

Featured Replies

Engine stalled in trafic on M25 today, managed to restart it :whew: but the check engine and the traction lights stayed on, managed to get home (about 100 miles) though she did not feel normal. Had a look at the engine, oil etc but all look OK. Tried to start up and she does not want to, did catch once but then stopped again. Anyone have a bright ideas as due to go no holiday soon and will need my transport. Hope it si something simple or will have to go in to be fixed  Engine is a 2.0 tdi PD

John

You need it scanned to see what the ECU thinks the issue is. The lights are on for a reason and that reason will be logged in the Engine ECU.

Either have it scanned at a dealer, local independent specialist or check out the VCDS section and see if someone local to you can scan it for you.

Good luck.

Paul

Where in Wilts are you, as I have VCDS and might not be too far from you?

The cause has been found  turnd out to be a fault in the wiring to the "speed sensor" So I would now ask you all would you expect a wiring fault on a 4 year old car? It was chafed through where the loom goes round a sharp bend in the engine bay. Should I contact Skoda regarding this?

Wouldn't hurt.

I take it it wasn't a dealer repair then? If it had been in at a dealership then we would have notified Skoda with a possible safety report to them. But this is tricky to do post repair.

Yes was at a dealer, Turners of Earlstoke, should I ask them if they reported it to Skoda?

John

If it was at a dealer then they should have reported it yes. We are obligated to when we find any wiring chaffed through anywhere. Even if Skoda analyse report and decide that the fault couldn't have any safety implications at least then they have made the decision. Also they advise on how to re route to avoid it happening again, no point repairing it for it only to run through again.
