Skoda finance and three years free sevicing

Featured Replies

I've just ordered a new vRS and intended to settle the balance due after p/ex by cash.

However the dealer told me to have finance just to get the free servicing saying I could then pay the finance off straight away.

I have'nt seen the finance detailed terms and conditions yet,but I'm slightly worried that an arrangement fee plus a early settlement charge is going to exceed the value of the free servicing.I've not signed to accept the finance yet so could back out.

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks,

John.

I think the servicing is roughly gonna cost you like 350 over the 3 years you could ask a dealer what they would charge. Will look at contract an try and get back to you soon but someone might have the answer for you.

off the top of my head.

If you are looking at servicing as priced now,

& it will be easy to ask & check at the dealerhip.

1st year service £85 (to £100 depending where)

2nd year £173 (to £230 depending where)

3rd year ? i do not know, but the Brake Fluid should be getting changed according to their service routine, so check that included

in their deal..

so maybe £150 if you were paying yourself.

So minimum possibly at a Skoda Dealership..

£85 + £173 + £150 at 2012 prices = £408 for 3 years servicing.

(add 5% roughly for the future increases = £430 maybe)

4th year will be Spark plugs and Air filter in the service if you have not done yourself before.

Are you being made an offer on GAP Insurance ??

Is there now an actual charge for early settlement then? I've usually gone with the finance option to bag the freebie and then pay it off a little later. I've not incurred early settlement fees to my knowledge.

Double posted :(

You can avoid the early settlement fee by making a bulk payment of the whole amOunt outstanding minus £10 over the phone. Then when you settle the finance, the fee is calculated on the £10 instead of the whole amount.

When we got swmbo's monte they explained this to us there isn't an early settlement fee from what we were told. From reading the paperwork there is also no mention of one. Think you have to make a payment on the finance though before you can pay it off

We took out finance partly due to the free servicing , my mums car recently had its first and with shopping around we couldnt get it under £200 !! so based our decision on those prices

Thanks for the replies so far.GAP insurance hasn't been mentioned.

So it seems there is probably no early settlement fee, although there is bound to be some element of interest, depending on the calculation method.

Also, finance agreements generally have an arrangement fee?

Do Skoda have a service plan?...i.e.where you prepay or pay monthly to cover future servicing?

If so,that would give the best figures to work with.

A salesman offered me a sevice plan last year, *i have it here*

I see its for 'Used Skoda' buyers....

can not find the piece of paper now that i put safe!.

Will do tho,

he did not like me writing as he quoted prices and deals, lol not ..............£299 for the 2 years fixed service plan tho.

*i PMSLing at it, and that upset him*

This will be Online no Doubt, but cant Google so i will type it

..................................................................

'fixed price service plan '

"up to 2 years servicing for just £299"

If you have or are thinking of buying a SKODA that's between 90 days and 6 years old you can take advantage of our fixed price service plan * for just £299

you can select from 2 fixed-price service plans depending on your circumstances

for younger car OPTION 1

gives...............+ £50 voucher

OPTION2 recommended for cars aged 2 years and over, comes with 2 MOT tests and 2 years MOT test protection.

Option 1 & option 2 are on the leaflet..............

1x oil change at 10,000 miles or 12 months

1x inspection service at 20,000 miles or 24 months

1x dust and pollen filter at 24 months

1x brake fluid change at 24 months (if required)

1x spark plug change (if required)

1x fuel filter (if required)

1x air filter (if required)

option 1 the £50 voucher

& option 2 the 2x mots & 2 x mot test protections.

....................................................................................

IMO, there was too much (if required) going on IMO, you could be paying and end up getting Oil changes just.

you pays your money or not and takes your chances

£299,paid in advance, for two services, the first of which is only an oil change, doesn't seem like a bargain to me.

If the stuff 'was being done and parts supplied'.

Fluid Change etc.

its maybe worth it for some.

Oil Change service £84

Inspection Service £173

The one with 2 MOTS, 2 x £54 Usual Dealership Price, The MOT Protection things OK, like a Kwik flik type thing.*Small print* is as always, the thing.!!

I recon you can get a Good Straight Cash purchase deal & GAP insurance at £199.

forget the free servicing.

No GAP needed really, if not on Finance.

Someone is paying the 'interest' on 'interest free Finance, & that is the customer in the long run. It is not the man in the nice suit & company demonstrator.

Pay Cash & demand a discount, or go to someone that will do that deal. JMO.
