Preaching to the converted?

Featured Replies

I'm on Skoda's mailing list on account of buying a Fabia vRS last year. So imagine my surprise at finding a mailshot for the car I already own on my doormat this morning!

Sorry guys, much as I like the car, I can't afford another one! :D Perhaps it should be like those flyers you get for get for hearing aids and orthopaedic beds and stuff - 'If you are already aware of this product, please pass this leaflet on to someone else who may be interested...'

Apologies in advance if this is a repost - I did do a search before I posted it! And if it ain't be prepared for some junkmail yourselves! ;)

My wife gets ads from Smart - she alredy has 1 :)

My son gets ads to buy a roadster - he alredy has 1 :)

is there a pattern dveloping here :D

There is a method to the madness - maildrops typically return a less than 2% response.

Word of mouth advertising is much much more effective.

It is fairly safe to assume that a happy owner will be doing "word of mouth" advertising. However, to do this effectively, the owner needs to have a fair idea of developments in the product...so, for example, if Skoda were offering a 0% deal over 3 years until the end of May, by sending out the mailshot to existing customers the next time they're recommending the car to someone, they will also point out the 0% deal... :)

Rob.

I still get Smart, Mercedes and Renault maildrops too. Never got a Skoda one mind.
