Rev limiter at 4000rpm when at idle?

Featured Replies

Just noticed that my tsi vRS appears to have a rev limiter at 4k when I rev the engine at idle. Was just trying to hear the induction noise. Anykne else noticed this?

Yep, it's to protect your engine, gearbox, clutch and fly wheel ;)

Guessed it would be something like that but never having reved the engine like that at idle it just surprised me.

Turn the ESP off. and try again ;0)

For the record mine would only rev to 2.5k when it was new but last sound test at Bedford it raised to 4k which was weird.

Not tested since though, but yes its to stop you being a tool and breaking the car.

had an old A class merc that did this on a y plate, shortly before the head went on it
