Smart TV remote

Featured Replies

I'm after a smart TV remote. Logitech Harmony seem to get good reviews and are fairly cheap. Any recommendations? Logitech or otherwise?

Logitech Harmony One I believe is the best but at £100+ it's hard to justify for me anyway. They did come down substantially for a short time a while a go but haven't seen any discounted prices recently.

I bought a harmony 300. Good little remote , rubbish support from Logitech though.I needed to control two humax recorders with it ( one freeview, one freesat )- you can change the humax remotes to use different channels but the logitech is only programmed with the default channel - so after asking Logitech - I discovered the answer on digital spy and I never did get an answer from Logitech. ( the answer was I had to reprogram the remote manually.

I have been using the Logitech Harmony 650 from almost 2 years now and would say it was worth every penny I spent on it. I had spent around $70 for a new then, but now it seems to have gotten costlier. It controls all of my 4 devices like a charm and now have my 4 individual remotes for these devices redundant. It is indeed a "Smart" remote in the sense with just the press of the allocated button, it puts ON the needed devices and sets them up initially and with just the press of a sinlge button puts them all OFF, unlike earlier, where I would have to go through the trouble of setting up each device manually with each of its own remote. It is also a very strong built, have abused it so much, dropped it rough, thrown it hard, but still works very well without a flaw. The only draw back is the power consumptionn, I use 2xAA rechargeables, which I need to replace every 5-7 days.

I had a Logitech 300 which I replaced with a Logitech 600.

Have being using logitech for the last 18 months and very happy with they.

Have also bought a wireless keyboard from them also.

I use a Harmony 900 to control the kit in what used to be my cinema room (and has now been taken over as the kids' playroom). Before that I had an 885. Both are great and did away with 10+ remotes. SWMBO loves it, as it turns on what needs to be turned on, sets it/them to the right channel/input/setting etc. and off you go. In fact, if it wasn't for those Harmonies, there's no way I'd have gotten away with having a cinema room.

Roll on the kids leaving home and I can have it back!
