Burning hot storage compartment

Featured Replies

Ok, so I'm talking about the storage bit above the glove box, but I'm not sure about it's exact name. Anyway, a few weeks ago I put my hand in to get something while I was driving, and there was a part of it which was insanely hot. To hot to touch. I'm not talking about the kind of heat if it has been left in the sun, but the plastic inside was just ridiculously hot, which doesn't seem good at all really.

Anyone know why this could be? My old man suggested it could be the amplifier or some sort of wiring loom getting hot under there, could it be any of these? And even if it was, surely it shouldn't get that hot?

has anyone else found this?

Thanks.

You will probably find the glovebox switch has fallen off and the light is staying on. Need to pop the switch pack on. Need to remove the stereo to get to it.

Take the bulb out, who needs a light in there?

Have you tried opening the 'Cooling control/hole' in there and putting on your A/C at cool

& seeing if the Box/Plastic gets cold?

we do not have a lights in the glove compartment our the 2010 vRS's, do you have a light in yours?

I have a 2011 vRS, and yes, there's a light in the glove box. And this will sound stupid, but I cant find or see any 'cooling control/hole' that looks like something that could easily be opened? I've had a good look now, and I'm pretty sure it's the light now, the hot area is directly above the light. I need to book it for its 10k service soon, so I'll get them to sort it then.

Cheers for the replies guys, wanted to see if it was something easy to do, but if it's what tech1e said, I'll just let skoda do it.

Nope, definitely don't have that!

I belive you only have the cooled glove box of you have climatic aircon and not just the basic a/c
