Rattle from the square hole behing handbrake

Featured Replies

Hi.

Ive tried the search but I cant find anything. Is there a fix for the rattle for the square tray thing between the handbrake and the rear cup holder? It looks like it should come out but Ive not pulled too hard yet.

thanks.

Pull it hard then look ;)

There is a handbrake tightener

Thanks :)

Might try and pad it with something. Probably not a good idea to glue it in!

try a round peg

Maybe the wire needs only tightened

So has anyone else tried shutting this thing up? I took it out yesterday with a good tug (ooo-errr) and it seems to need some padding round the lip to make a tighter fit.

I thought about just putting a rubber band round it to cushion the join maybe?

Looks like I am the only one this is bothering (must be the shropshire roads :) )

Anyway so Ive sorted it (I think) by using some self adhesive door/window draught sealing foam stuff thats D shaped. Cut the D off so its flat and then stuck 1cm pieces to the flat surfaces - 1 in each corner and 1 in each of the middle bits so 8 in total.

The plastic 'cup' went back in OK but was a snuger fit. Now its it id cant move so hopefully no more rattles.

If you start with those rattles you'll never sleep peacefully again, every time you think you solved one you'll notice another...

I forgot all about it after the first few months, just accepted it's a hard ride and while quite good generally, not the best put together interior in the world.
