Wheel Bearing Housing Worn? Knocking Noise

Featured Replies

I have a weird knocking noise when I go round corners and lightly apply the footbrake. I have had the CV joints checked and been told they are ok and that it might be the Wheel Bearings moving in the wheel bearing housing due to wear of the housing? Anybody experience similar problems? Is this a common fault with Fabias? When I jacked the car up and grasped the wheel at 9 and 3 oclock there was some play but none at the 12 and 6 oclock position. Anyone know what this signifies?

Could be worn bushes or worn bottom ball joints. Wheels might also need tightening.

I'd have thought it would be the bearing rather than the bearing housing.

Play at 3 & 9 is usually trackrod ends worn but will be more of a knock thay abit play, slight play can just be the steering rack movment up to the steering wheel rather than a worn joint.

Play at 12 & 6 is more for wheel bearings and ball joints.
