Alternator pulley on 1.9D

Featured Replies

Hi,

The alternator pulley on my 1.9D collapsed due to the internal clutch failing. Took the alternator off and binned the damaged pulley. I then replaced the pulley with one off a 1.6 petrol. Everything seemed to work well until I found that the belt now rubs the belt going the other way, near the tensioner. Thought that the belt had stretched and therefore replaced with a new one. Belt nolonger rubs, but the gap is very small and if it stretched at all it will rub.

I have looked at the parts list and found that the 1.9 Diesel pulley is shown as 028 903 119F whereas the 1.6 petrol is shown as 028 903 119D. Do these differ in outer diameter? If the diesel is larger, then it would explain why the belt is rubbing itself as I have the pulley from a 1.6 fitted.

Many thanks,

James
