Oil Pressure Warning Light

Featured Replies

My wife went on a long journey of several hundred miles recently in our Fabia Classic 1.4. When almost back home, the oil pressure warning light came on with an audible beep. I checked the oil, but it is clean (it was replaced recently) and near the maximum mark.

I have read various comments on this website about the possibility of the problem being the oil pressure sensor. I removed this sensor from the front of the engine, and sure enough it was soaked in oil, as was the plastic cap. I changed the sensor for a new one, cleaned the oil out of the cap as best I could, and refitted it, checked the sensor was tight and not leaking, but the red warning light is still coming on. Does anyone know if maybe I need to change the cap as well, or whether perhaps the problem might lie elsewhere?

I would be grateful for any ideas.

Thanks for your help!

Tim
