Traction Control Light

Featured Replies

Last night while on the motorway and in heavy rain my TC light came on and stayed on for 20 mins then went off again. Anything I need to worry about?.

did you notice any loss of traction or aquaplaning? Steering go light/ back end stepping out?

If you were driving to the road conditions then i would think not , you are still alive..

Re the TC.

Worth checking the vehicles wiring for corrosion or bare wires, connectors.

Maintain or repair as required, you might have a short in the wiring.

Maybe some waterproofing of connectors with Dry Chain Dressing for Motorcylcle chains or White Grease.

Brake pads have plenty of meat on them etc.

Does the battery light come on with the ignition?

Well worth having a search for the DFM alternator wire fault. Just needs a simple wiring repair.

Battery light comes on with the ignition.

I'd still check the DFM wiring anyhow for breakages or corrosion.

The car is going for a service on Wednesday at the main dealer so I have told them about it.

If it's what I recently had fixed on my car then a small piece of wire

with a connector on each end fixed it sorted the problem.

Check when you fire up the car. In my case the light was coming on after exactly 10 minutes.

If it does that then you'll have either one or two broken wires.

Go ahead, time it.

Was it a easy/cheap job to fix?.

If it's what happened to mine then I paid a half hours labour

to get the car up on the ramp and have the wire (I supplied the wire with connectors myself)

replaced. If you have facilities and the experience to remove and refit the undertray

then I don't see why you'd have to pay at all. I used a 6" scrap of wire to fix mine.

It's been fine ever since. :)

Should pick it up on an inspection service anyhow really. And repair is easy enough when it's up in the air.

Lets hope they fix it then during the service.

Well they should note it nd then contact you for authority to repair it.

How much do you think it should cost and how serious is it?. Want it to be ok for my drive to Wales.

It's quite serious if you battery goes flat, steering stops working etc.

Shouldn't be more than about half hours labour I'd say.
