Hoping to do a bit of work on the VRS!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hope you are all well!!

I've had my furby since January and am hoping to do a bit of work on her to clean her up a bit.

I have a few things that need doing:

Brakes, New Horn, Electric window switch etc!!

I've seen some Lovely VRS's on here and it's inspired me to get mine up to the same standard!!

So I've just picked up a set of Brembo discs and pads...I've gone for standard size Discs as I think they will be sufficient for my needs!

Was also thinking of also getting some HEL braided brake lines and some Dot 5.1 fluid to freshen it all up and also to see if it will help with the overall feel.

I desperately need a new horn too... The one I've got sounds like it's had water or something get into the box and the noise is the most rubbish sound you've every heard!!! When I press it, It sounds like someone is stamping on the Roadrunners nuts!! Not exactly what you want when you are trying to vent your fury at the numptys that seem to continually cut me up!

So does anyone know if the Horn is an easy job to replace?? Is it worth just picking a new one up from Skoda or are their any other ones out there that are a good strong tone and fit straight on??

I've also been told by my friend in work that I ought to clean out my EGR valve too as that may help with performance... I've done a search on here and it looks as thought it's not too hard a job. Am I right in saying it's a case of disconnect all the hoses off it, undo 3 bolts, scrape out all the crap until it's all shiney and then reattach?? (Please tell me if I'm wrong!!! )

I really want to have a go at doing all this stuff myself... I've been overcharged by the local garages so many times now for the littlest things and the work they do isn't anything special... so I think I ought to give it a go myself!!. Problem is I havent tinkered with a car for years so I've kinda lost my mojo and am a bit nervous to start going at things with a spanner and a hammer :giggle:. I suppose I ought to just grow a pair and get on with it though!!

Once I've done these bits and am a bit more confident, I want to try a few visual mods on the car... There are some stunning VRS's around Chepstow where I live and I like the look of the ones that have got the Cupra front splitter. Makes it look a bit meaner!!

Ther's also one that has something going on with the headlights?? Where mine are crome inside his seems to have a black inner part?? Sorry if I sound like rain man... I'm not sure how to explain it!! It looks smart anyway!! I will have to try and stop him and have a chat when I next see him parked up in the local Tesco.

Oh yeah... before I go, just one more thing (said in my best Columbo voice) Does this forum use an approved skoda dealer that you get all your stuff from?? If so do they offer a discount to all the briskoda clan or is that only for the Freedom members??

Cheers All

Greg
