just about to buy our first skoda

Featured Replies

We are trading in our 2004 Volvo v50 for a 2008 Octavia vrs estate. It's a private deal and we are adding 1500.

It's done 155000 miles with skoda history.

It's had the PDF removed(what ever that is) and been remaped to 200hp. It's al also been fitted with a fancy sound system.

Just need to get a towbar fitted now.

Hello and welcome,

DPF - Diesel Particle Filter. Thats a good things its been removed. Do you know who did the removal and remap?

I will keep an eye out for you. Try and make it to one of the meets sometime and say hello in person.

BAD POINTS

SLIGHT CRACK IN REAR BUMPER LIP TRIED TO TAKE A PICTURE ON IMAGE 5 BUT DIDNT SHOW UP ALSO LIGHT STONE CHIPS ON THE FRONT DUE TO MOTORWAY MILES, WHICH PERSONALLY I THINK IS A GOOD SIGN THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN LOCALLY AND CAUSED EXCESSIVE WEAR, APART FROM THAT THE CAR IS EXCELLENT AND IF YOU ALREADY LOOKING AT THIS IT MEANS YOU KNOW HOW SOLID AND RELIABLE SKODAS ARE.

Driver side mirror housing damaged, another car hit it in a country lane aaarrrgghhh!!!

GOOD LUCK

SOLD for £4,700 (winning Bid)

I'd say its worth around £4 - £4.5k private.

It's defo worth more than £2k.

If your happy with the car and it drives alright dont worry too much about the price theres always cheaper cars around but you get what you pay for.

You can look at buying a high mileage car two ways: 1) because its high mileage its probably had a lot of the parts that fail replaced already and will thus be entering its new phase of reliability 2) price is very mileage sensitive, it will therefore be well down on its depreciation curve and could be a bargain to buy, but likewise a poor sale and problem to sell.

I have just bought a 2005 Octavia, 77000 miles, but I think is entering a phase of unreliability, I have spent £600 on already. My last car, a Rover 75, had 150,000 miles, but I had replaced so many things on it - perhaps I should have kept it!!

We have done the deal and we now have a nice skoda. Drives like new with plenty of power.
