Handbrake adjustment

Featured Replies

Im in the midst of taking the monte to the main dealers to have the handbrake adjusted as we found it wasn't holding on hills.

They have informed me that luckily it is within the first 6 months of the warranty so it is free to adjust. Is this correct as I'd thought it would be covered under warranty for the full 3 years

Most manufacturers' warranty specifically excludes 'adjustments' as most of these are normal running happenings. Warranty is aboult faults which are caused by the manufacturing process or a component failure.

Most supplying dealers will carry out adjustments during service as a 'goodwill' gesture even though they can't claim money from Skoda or whoever for doing it.

I know there is a lot of flack against dealers but they can't work for nothing.

It's good to get a relationship going with your local dealer and you will get little extras like adjustments because they know that you will return for service and maintenance at some stage.

Tip :- report any defects sooner rather than later and you stand a better chance of it being done under warranty or 'policy' - which means free!
