Question about the Sunroof Blind

Featured Replies

I apologise in advance if this has been asked/answered already, my search results didn't bring it up.

OK, I've have my new SM bundle of joy for just under a week now and am really pleased with virtually every aspect of it (easilly pleased me :giggle: )

When I picked it up the sales person showed me the factory fit panoramic sun roof functionality which if I recall correctly (Im often wrong) when activated both the blind and the glass roof opened together. Maybe he briefly pressed the open blind button (goes all the way back on its own) but I didn't notice. Now if this is the case it would be quite handy.

When I activate the roof to open fully or even slightly the blind does not roll back (or close when I manually close the roof) I have to manually press the button to roll back the blind so my question is, is this normal? It's not a big deal for me either way.

The SM is a 2012 car build if this helps.

Mine is the same.

Not seen a way to tie the blind operation to the roof yet...

Many thanks BossFox for the clarification as the manual is not overly clear. I just wanted to be sure of the correct operation and make sure I've not lost too many of my marbles.

Hi Hairball.

The sunroof & the blind are operated independently.

The knob on the roof 'turns' to open the roof, and there are two buttons to press within the main turnable button. These two buttons operate the sunroof blind.

Press and re;ease the button facing the rear of the car to open the blind fully, and press and hold the button to 'part open' the blind remembering to release the button when the blind reaches your chosen position.

I hope this helps.

He knows how to use it.

He is asking if there is a way to operate the sunroof and blind at the same time. :)

Ooooops sorry.

Thanks for pointing that out for me BossFox.

As far as I know, they cannot be 'linked'.

Love the roof - very versatile. First car with a opening sunroof for a few years and I had forgotten how nice fresh air is instead of air con.

Took me 2 months to find that you can tilt open the rear part of the sunroof by moving the switch up and down!

Peter

According to the handbook, the remote control will tilt the glass while also opening the sun blind.

Many thanks for the comments everyone. I must admit that I was not hugely bothered with the sunroof but thought was a nice touch, You don't really appreciate it on a car in the showroom. Now I've used it and can appreciate how much lighter the cabin seems It would be right on the top of my extras list for the next one.
