Which Exhaust Do You Recommend?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

The time has come to change the exhaust on my vRS, and after a lot of research (probably too much) I still can't make my mind up as which which cat back system to go for. The ones in mind are Milltek, Jetex and Piper.

Can anyone recommend or not as the case may be, a paticular brand? Also, is there any noticable difference in noise or restrictions between resonated and non-resonated?

I will be looking to get the car remapped by Shark in the next couple of months so i'm trying to get the mods in place beforehand.

Cheers in advance

Lewy

I had Blue flame on mine (resonated), nice burble on tickover and a nice sporty (but not loud/chavvy) note on boost. Spooled up quicker and pulled better into the red. good build quiality and good price when i got mine.

I'm getting a mk4 golf 3" stainless steel turbo back system from the states for £230 delivered inc import taxes etc. brand new system, I doubt the quality will anywhere near as good as with most things you get what you pay for. I've got a rough plan on how to make the back box exit in the correct place. Gotta take a chance at that price!! Search jdmhondaparts on eBay :)

Hey clarkyzs ,, check out my post on my vrs exhaust project . I did what u intend to do with that exhaust system . Mine was a resonated Jetex 3inch off a mark 4 gti ;)

And lewy vrs ... If I was u I hit YouTube and type in exhaust sounds for 1.8t ... That's how I picked the sound I wanted . Might not be great advice as u might not hear the exhaust sound accurately .

I have a Milltek and love the note when she's opened up.

Quiet when cruising along, too.

Cheers for ideas. I'm probably going to go with a twin round tailpipe design to get away from the standard look.

Hmmm now......Bank Holiday weekend coming up, I bet SWMBO will be pleased I'm under the car again.

I bought a Magnex twin 3" exhaust from a golf, and had my mechanic fit it...Took a little bit of modification but not much at all.

It looks and sounds superb. Very subtle, and you can barely tell it's after market until you plant your foot. Depends what you're after I guess

I was skeptic about putting a larger downpipe an decat onto my Jetex resonated catbak as I thought it would be chav loud .. But to

Be honest I was very surprised . At idle the exhaust has a low rumble to it, nothing too loud an travelling at 60mph it's hard to tell the difference between stock an modified .. I think these 1.8turbo vag engines are a quiet girl anyways ;)

miltek resonated is awesome and stealthy

My 3" turbo back is gonna be far too loud I reckon.

I have a Piper system and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for the clips Rob - Sounds great

Just out of interest, is your system resonated on non?

Non. Decat downpipe, 2.5" all the way and just a rear resonator.

Cheers Rob. I think that's made my mind up!
