I have always changed my oil and filter on any car ive owned religoiusly every 5000 miles. It prolongs the life of trouble free miles and keeps things Tickerty Boo. I was wondering what oil people can recommend for a 54plate Octavia Vrs with 5000 miles on the clock. Price not an issue really. I have got a new filter from the dealers.

Is your car set for variable or fixed service intervals? If the former (which is how it comes set from the factory) then you need a spec VW 503 00 fully synthetic 0W-30 oil which allows oil change intervals of up to 20,000 miles or 2 years. If the latter then the choices are any oils to specs VW 500 00, 502 00 or 505 01. See the FAQ below:
