rear tracking?

Featured Replies

hi, whats the tracking tolernces for the vrs on the rear and front and would it being lowered affect the new settings? 20/25mm dropped.

thanks

As Octavia fear suspension has an upper track control arm (or whatever VAG call it) any articulation of the suspension will cause the camber to change. As the longitudinal control member is a radius arm, you have effectively a semi trailing type geometry, so there will be some small quantity of change. Any addition to the static settings will also depend on the compliance of the various bits of rubber in the system.

Take it out for a drive, start steadily, build up to coorblimy. See if it snaps round on you or how long it takes the bushes to look noticeably more worn than before or if the tyres are scrubbing differently/ more rapidly.

I think it not very likely the change you made will have made any discernible difference.

In short, yes.

Depending where they were before you lowered it, you could now be out of spec.

On a vRS though, being within the tolerences isn't good enough, you really need it to be spot on or you will get the sawtoothing of the rear tyres. The extra wheel width accentuates the problem.
