Featured Replies

Hey peeps, this is my first post so hello everyone! More to the point I've come across this full exhaust system for dirt cheap on eBay, it's brand new and advertised for a mk4 golf, I was just curious as to if anyone has one fitted and was fitment a bodge? I'm hovering over the buy it now so any advice will be taken on board! It's very cheap but for the price I can't resist!! Need immediate replies please.

how can they say no import tax !!! think you might be ****ed when customs stop it and add a charge onto the product !!!

Certain company's and items have special discount for some reason. I did wonder this myself. Maybe drop the seller a question and post up his answer?

think you will be disapointed if you buy it, will be too short

Yep will need a little adding to the end at a place like powerflow or similar but it would still be pretty much half the price as any cat back system availible in the uk except this comes with a 3" decat pipe in the price also. Prob more awkward to fit and may not last as long but it's gotta be worth a try.

Apparently the tax etc is in the price! It says somewhere on the add! I did think i would need abit adding to be honest but I can just go to power flow to add me a piece on, I wanted a different tip anyway. It's so tempting for the price! I initially wanted a rear box but for this price it's basically the same for a full system! :S another question though, has anyone had issues with lambdas and the mot with the de cat? I will drop them a message and let you all know what they say anyway!

I know an mot tester so de cats aint an issue for me ;) (typo edit lol)

Haha I work for vw Audi specialist myself so I would get it through test some how If I had any dramas!

they can't be real with the tax thing- not only will you get import duty+vat ++plus it's lumped on to the carriage charge most yanks can't even send a small package under $30 and if your really unlucky they think you want it yesterday and send it airmail-------------from someone who'se been there---on the otherhand you could be luckey and the're on strike that day

I agree that it is unusual for a US seller to be so savvy about shipping - most won't ship overseas just because they 'have to stand in line' at the Post Office.

Using the US Postal service to defraud (if they label the item as a gift in order to escape paying duties is a crime in itself), so very few sellers will do this.

However, he is quite clear; http://www.ebay.co.u...=item58957cb693

Please note that NO additional charges will be incurred. All customs and VAT fees are built into the price of the item and charged to us directly. (this does NOT apply to Portugal)

.

But the ad' also says:

International items may be subject to customs processing and additional charges.

So, its ambiguous. BUT his feedback is good and I don't see anyone has complained about customs charges and I see there is at least one buyer of the same exhaust system who has left good feedback?

So....before pressing the buy it now button I would 'contact the seller' and ask him the direct and unambiguous question: "can you totally guarantee that the selling price and postage is ALL I will ever have to pay because YOU will cover ANY additional duties and VAT incurred through importing into the UK and that is paid at source and is included in the selling price plus postage..".

That way, in the event of additional charges you can always dispute the payment through paypal and you will have his email answer to support your claim to claw-back the cash.

Cheers, Terry

from my experience of purchasing product from ECS in the states when the product lands in UK the carriage and customs will be due. How someone knows how much to pay up front to cover this I am not sure, unless the seller has and very good understanding of this process. The time I got to know this is when courier guy knocked my door asking for extra money to hand over the package. Either I was very unlucky and got fleeced or this is std practice.
