Skoda Octavia OSR lock replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having a lot of fun with this over the weekend :-)

Trying to replace the passenger lock on the drivers side for my Octavia Elegance Estate on an 02 plate

which had a permanently locked door.

Got the door card off eventually and smashed open the lock to open the door okay.

I've then undone the M8 bolts on the side of the door to release the lock mecahnism.

But, this is still attached to the cable that is connected to the outside door handle. I cannot figure out how to

detach this cable so that I can remove the old lock from the car.

Anybody got the answer?

Cheers

Paul

Its been a couple of years since i did my mk 1 door latch but if i remember correctly there is a screw that you loosen (but dont fully remove!) which lets you remove the solid bit of the door handle which then lets you unclip the cable to remove the latch mechanism. This screw maybe under a bung,as you open the door & look at the latch its above it.

Mikey's got it about right... you have to remove either some or all of the outer lock. Should be OK then, it's much easier to gain access through the rear doors than the front..!
