Rear Bumper Protection

Featured Replies

Our new Yeti ( white 140 DSG 4x4 Elegance) turns up in Dec and am now starting to get my head round how to protect the rear bumper. We have 3 border collies and whilst good at jumping in the back of the car, I want to provide some form of protection on the bumper from their claws. I can't find anything in the brochure to suit. My Caliifornia has a hard plastic cover on it which was a dealer fit.

Any ideas?

My bumper is rather battered from the Labrador, I also noticed today when I washed and polished the car how much damage has been done to the sills and the bottom of the rear bumper just behind the back wheels, I am now looking at making longer rally car style mud flaps.

Good thing is they are not painted so at first glance things look ok.

The top of the bumper isn't the issue with the dog, it is down the face when they drag a claw or miss when jumping in, I will take a picture of mine tomorrow to show where you will need to protect.

Had the same dog problem with my octy estate. With the new one I have a cover across the estate floor and cut a piece of carpet that will cover the bumper and tuck under the cover by about 700/800mm to stop it coming out. Before you load/unload the dogs flip the carpet over the bumper then when finished fold it back in. Works a treat.

James good call on dragging feet, had forgotten the slight step down to the boot floor. Loving the complete cover to help keep the boot a bit more hair free and looks like it will protect the entire bumper and the bit as described by James.

Glad I found the forum! Thanks to all.
