  1. It was a slight rattle and could only be heard from underneath and if you stuck your head deep under the bonnet. I have had it back a week now and everything seems OK Thanks Guys for all your help guys with this problem. Just as an aside, as i had spoken to VAG about this and with my VW and Skoda history I was chancing my arm asking for a bit of help with the bill? They told me I had been allocated a Case Manager?? Woo Hoo? Supposed to contact me in 48 hrs. as it was 56 hours they put me through to her. I asked what happened to the 49 hrs? Got loads of bull **** back/ I told her that you can tell any one else in Skoda who may be remotley interested that the next car I get If i live long enough (76 now) will not be a Skoda, that shut her up and I put the phone down??
  2. I've bitten the bullet and gone with this garage. I know the owner fairly well. Having done some gardening over the last 2 years. I challenged them about a warranty. They said it came from the supplier. I said what happens if you go bust I'm left in the soft and smelly? They promised to get one I think its for 1 year. I think the new one came from TPS but will find that out next week. The turbo came with a manifold. The bill was £1700. In hind sight I feel I should have run it for a few more months, as apart from a rattle there was no smoke or anything untoward happening. One gem that came from the garage was if you have been doing motorway driving at highish speeds then let the engine run when you park for a minute or two before you switch off?? I put this question on here before but where a similar question had been placed with no replies ? So put a straight query to get these replies. Thanks guys for your help much appreciated and will keep on the garages ass for answers to various querys
  3. Having a new turbo fitted , I asked for the old one back. Garage said no as it is an exchange item. I told them I did not want a 2nd. hand one at £1300 ? They said it will probably be a new one?? Probably???WTF? they said you will get a warranty . I said I should bloody well expect one as well> No idea how long for ? The other one went at 39,000 miles?? Car 5.5 yrs old and serviced yearly either when we had a local Skoda garage and then at a reputable local garage? It was making a rattle which you could hear either by being under it on a ramp or sticking your head under the bonnet well down. Not driving? It was first thought to be a timing chain rattle. As not noise or smoking could I have driven it for a few hundred miles before it became a problem. Total bill will be around £1800.00 Is that about right. No help from SUK.??
  4. Just been told by my local garage that the cam chain rattle is not is not its the turbo waste? Talking about a new turbo? cars 5.5 yrs old with 39k on the clock? Spoke to Skoda and Skoda through VAG not interested. No local history.I told them they told me that they would be having another dealer in there in a few months that was 2 years ago. So not up to a 40mile round trip and sat on my bum for 2/3 hours waiting for it to be serviced so used a local reputable garage that services to Skoda standard. Not interested. So will be phoning SUK customer services guy that the next car in my garage will not be Skoda? Tight fisted bunch of w@@@@@@. Sorry went off subject? Would a cleanup of the turbo at that mileage do the trick?? Grateful for any help???
  5. As I said earlier I have had it checked at a local garage with a good reputation. They said it was a hard to hear noise you had to be under the car to hear it. Its been like this for a about 3 weeks since I took the car to a garage that had fitted a new exhaust which was rattling. They could not find the rattle??? but mentioned a noise from the front end? Today I took in to my usual garage about the noise. Thy fixed the exhaust rattle and said the other noise was the timing chain. They told me to bring it back in a week and they booked it in. My previous email tell what happens Contacting SUK . Nothing? Garage told me to take it easy now I am being told not to drive at all??? Been hacking up the M3 at 80 since first told / Is than an Oops? Thanks!!
  6. Hi I have a Aug 2012 VRS estate which according to paperwork is a 2013 model?? How can I tell whether it is a 2012 model or a 2013. I need to find out as I have / supposed to have a timing chain rattle. SUK don't want to know even with the amount of VW / Skoda / Porsche cars etc i have owned. I have no goodwill with the local squealer as they went out of business last year in Basingstoke., and SUK have not found a replacement. Am I in the proverbial with this ? 39,000 on the clock and coming up 5 years old always serviced every year with Skoda except last 2 years when I have used MPC based in Basingstoke. Any help info would be gratefully received! Thanks
  7. Had an offer for exhaust from a company in the north? Not much point as mega travelling involved. I went to Longlife in Basingstoke Cost £200. Was not keen on the sound so they changed it twice? The third time they took the middle box out and put smaller one in its place? Sounded great except it was quite noisy/loud! Thingy in doors complained the noise was hurting her ears?? So decided to tone it down slightly?? As it seemed to be quicker I decided to get it on a rolling road and see what it was like with this setup? I took it to West Tune at Thruxton Ind estate lots of racing saloon and sports racers there? Put on the road and in about 40 mins all finished? The Boss Ray West said that my car was very quick!!! Standard setup is between 200bhp and the best VRS he had in as standard was 205BHP. Mine was 223.7? It really shifts especially as its Auto. All you hear is a snick as it changes gear. Well pleased as Its only a tuned exhaust? Ray said he could get 275 easily out of my car? I declined, its plenty fast enough now for me, took it back to Longlife today and they fitted a back box to cut the sharp resonance down! sounds OK ! Got to wait until tomorrow to get Thingys approval??? Fat chance so it will stay as is??? Back box cost me £ 50 . Well pleased all round? Matt the exhaust fitter certainly knows his job?
  8. Just answered my own question? Fast Fit in Basingstoke have just opened a Longlife Custom Exhausts outlet. 200 tailpipe designs. Pipe from engine to back box. Phone 01256 321800. Cant get over there yet as the Fffffffffffing DVLA are very very slow in giving me my licence back????? Medical not DD or like. Got a 6 month ban and at 7 months and being High Priority still cannot get it back. What a shower of --------? Costing me a mint? The Consultant has sent them a letter , via me 5 weeks ago to say I had not had a stroke as one of his dim witted colleagues had said I had. Obviously the plonker could not read a an MRI scan. So I am Fubared??
  9. I have a 12 plate 13 model Estate Auto. When i am cruising at around 50/60 then plant my boot down you do get a bit of a growl as the revs peak. Looking for something which sounds better! I don't want the Subura 2 bean cans welded noise? Some thing a little more refined, and I don't want one involving major metal bending. Trying not to be too fussy!!!!!! Any ideas guys? Trying to make the Green Machine a bit sportier??
  10. Will not be missed that much. When I went to buy my present car I was told they did not have any but would in 3 weeks! Went back 3 weeks later . Yes we have one!! Great. Only problem it had the delivery covers on. Well can we take it for a drive? It won't take long to get some of the bits off. No chance!! So went to Winchester decent service & good tech team. I had persuaded my neighbour to try Skoda after problems with Tin box all. They ended up buying one from Newbury. Sales at the time and since were pretty rubbish, so no loss there! the Tech's there were very good and sorted out problems where Skoda could not!! Did not rate the Service manager. Did everything he could to stop me getting warranty work done. Had the hump because I had a 5 year Warranty?? Company apparently failed through lack of trade???? Surprise, surprise!! Pity as 250 employees went as well !!
  11. The service rep, who is a right Skoda man told me they wanted the car for two days to do data transfer to Skoda!! Took it in , got a phone call from the chief tech. to say the car was ready?? What happened to the 2 days. Just changed the control box he said!! Havent had any serious rain since but all seems OK! So fairly happy!!!
  12. Thanks for that! I went to the Skoda dealer and managed to avoid the service rep. He is one of those that if you cut off the top of his head It would be like a looking at a stick of rock with skoda right through!! I spoke to his junior who is a good lad! A tech who overheard our chat said we have done two or three of those. He told the lad to book it in!!!!!! when I took the car in the main service rep was there, Out came the usual patter. We will have to get Skodas Ok on it. I said you have done others! He said Skoda is tightening up on this type of work. I told him I have a lot of VW ownership clout and I will be on Skodas case today! And I still have nearly a years warranty left. Got a phone later to say the car was ready! When I got there said to the rep got the permission then? He mumbled into his paperwork!!! Plonker. The lad was finishing off the Skoda invoice . it would have cost £88. Wow that much???? All is now good!!
  13. Just had mine in for yearly service and MOT. Note says. Handbrake track broken. As I have a warranty to 20/07/2017 I said why haven't you fixed it. The service manager said it's classed as trim. WTF. Now to me track means a moving part or a fixed unit that a moving part uses. So they should replace it!! Perhaps someone could give me a bit of guidance on this please??
  14. Phoned Local dealer for an update! originally the local tech was just going to change the control box but SUK are still asking for the car for 2 days to do a linkup with the onboard computer??? This should be good as it only happens in rainy conditions!!!! Told the tech that in NZ they said straight away to change the control box. They want the car in and are charging me £15 for a spare car! Never mind, as long as they sort it!
  15. Well they have been over 2 years with mine! Still seem to be getting somewhere now, hopefully. Tried phoning but tech is away today!!
