Audi Bose Speakers in Octavia

Featured Replies

I know that the Octavia is based on an Audi A3 and my boss has one with the Bose speakers in and they sound really good. Does anyone know if the speakers from an A3/A4 are a straight fit into the door speakers in an Octavia?

Hmm interesting, im looking at upgrading my Octavia speaker was considering Infinity Reference components

I've got Bose stuff in my house and I like them, just wondered with it being based on the A3 if they would fit?

I imagine expensive to buy aftermarket and may well be part of a tuned system.

Bose are generally very overpriced for the level of performance, to be honest you'd get better value from another manufacturer.

I'd love to get some Dynaudio's sometime as I really liked a set of monitors I had at home from them, but not cheap.

Infinity are well regarded and decent vfm too, most will benefit from a four channel power amp though.

No highs, no lows, it must be Bose. Stay well clear IMO it's all over priced cr@p

See you can get a setup of Bose speakers off eBay from an A3 for £150 to £200, if they would fit its got to be worth a go.

We are all entitled to our opinions and ive used Bose stuff for years and really like them. I don't think they are crap at all, not the cheapest but by no means the most expensive either

Thats an interesting view and one thats spouted on the net quite regularly. I have to confess, Ive never been massively impressed with their home stuff (better for the cost from other manufacturers imo) Ive heard a few Bose setups in A3's in my time and thought they were better than average. However, I drove an Exeo last weekend with the Bose (setup is same as the B7 A4) and I have to say, I was very impressed! I rated it better than my friends B8 A4 B&O setup which I was massively massively surprised at!! I literally grabbed an SD card out of the Yeti (full of 320kb files) and compared to my optional factory setup and Columbus, the Bose/Exeo setup destroyed it!

However, Id be very careful about putting it into a different car for what it was intended to go into. The acoustics will be different due to the capacity difference of the interior. THey make a lot of the fact its EQ'ed for the actual interior. You'll also need to find equivalent spaces for the amp and looms etc. For that sort of money second hand, personally Id go with some half decent non Bose speakers and amp if I wanted to enhance the sound.

I think Harrys a sound engineer too :giggle:

I certainly agree and Bose aren't bad, just another case of style over substance, B&O is far far worse in this area.

The IPod dock is very good, (not cheap £350) but was surprised with my mates.

I'm no sound engineer, but am a sad audiophile type and have heard enough to know what I like & what people might be happy with at home/in their car.

That's a very fair point id not thought about to be honest

Being a sound engineer is irrelevant tbh. I spec and install audio equipment as part of my job and I run a fairly decent home cinema and stereo setup also but at the end of the day thats all irrelevant as everyone likes a different 'sound'. If you like what you hear then thats good for me! :)

As FocusZtec already wrote, the Bose system is a system.

If, than you should implant all of it in the Octavia and after installation it can still be

one big disappointment.

Because the speakers and amps are dedicated to the vehicle, it probably wont sound as

good in another car than the dedicated one.

i found most bose home systems to be a very warm sound, focusing on low end, certainly not a bad thing for a home cinema setup but on the other end of the spectrum i have some retro bose 301's for monitoring and they do provide a precise sound,im still not sure why the tweeters are setup in that fromation(google and see what i mean)

i havent heard anything in-car that rivals the harman kardon systems fitted to newer bmw' yet though

Try the B&0 system in the A6/A8 and even the B&W system in the latest, high spec jags. :)

All a matter of taste

The B&O in the newest A6 C7 (or 4G) is OK, but not worth the price. Costs 6000 euro extra!

You can almost buy a car for that money!

ive heard the b&o system in a 2009 A4,very loud but not a good spectrum of frequencies.

my friends dad owns a new XF il have to check out the setup in that ;)

The B&O in the A4 is pretty dire and as I mentioned above, I actually preferred the Bose in the Exeo. imo the A4 shouldnt carry the B&O name!
