Fabia HB Elegance 1.6 16v Loud engine?

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I have recently purchased a brand new Fabia HB Elegance with the 1.6 16v engine, I have driven the car as I would normally do, not shying from the throttle and not going above 3800/4000rpm

The car has done 130km so far, after 90km I had to go up a steep hill for a 15min steep uphill drive @ 2nd gear, around 2500rpm

after that I panicked and now I have the following concerns, which am not sure if I am being paranoid or ...

- the engine is a bit loud, almost with a roar/rumbling sound; brrr like :) is this normal for these engines?

- at night when all is quiet, and I go half-throttle down, i can hear a light ticking/tapping noise from the engine, as if it is valves ticking or something like that, is this also known? should I be concerned and have this checked out?

- going over speed bumps at any speed >10kmh will give a sound of air gushing from the front suspensions, pshh

Am I being paranoid, will these noises/sounds subside, especially the ticking from the engine

Thank you for your thoughts and comments

I also have the 6 speed tiptronic gearbox, 1st gear always whines, while 3rd seems to lag or face a blank spot at around 3000rpm

this was purchased last week and it was a zero km car (actually 15km)

thoughts please :)

I think I am paranoid a bit :D

We dont have the 1.6 in the UK only the 1.6TDI

The noise from the suspension sounds normal.

Thank you for your feedback :) The engine has gone a bit quieter now that it has done some 900kms

Do you have the 6speed tiptronic, any idea how the torque converter works, maybe that's y i feel the rpm varies a bit in the same gear, at the same throttle level
