Start Stop Question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im loving my new CitiGo, but i have noticed something i think is to do with the Start Stop system, basically, sometimes if start stop activates, when it comes to moving off, clutch down, into 1st, handbrake off, but yet it feels like the foot brake is applied?

Plus sometimes when i use the foot brake to activate start stop, the pedal only looks to return about 90% of the way when it comes to move off it appears to move to its normal position ,as if the foot brake has just been released.

As it doesnt do it all the time (infact very rarely) I wasnt sure if this was to do with the City Safe braking system or if it was the brake pressure returning to normal levels after starting the engine again.

Any ideas?

have you got hill hold control on the car?

if you are on a 1 in 20 (5%) hill or steeper it maintain brake pressure for 2 seconds then releases it to help you pull away on a hill

have got it on my fabia greenline interesting to get used to

hmm im not sure, but i do recall this happening on a steep hill

Its normal its hill hold or hill start control

Sounds like Hill Hold, try it on a hill, where there is no one around, Stop as normal, when you release the foot brake it should hold for a few seconds before it releases, and you will start to roll back.

Another thought, does it still do it if you have start, stop switched off?

I havnt tried that actually lol. will do soon tho :D

My daughter mentioned that the brake pedal went hard if on a slope and stop start was active.

I had the thought that it was probably hill hold to allow you to depress the clutch to restart the engine before moving off.

I've not had the chance to do any tests though

I have noticed that I believe it to be hill hold, I dont think it is linked to start stop
