Electrical melt down! no speedo, loads warning lights every where.

Featured Replies

I was having problem with my screen washer and rear wiper on my 2008 vrs diesel.

I had been checking the fueses and washer pump. All ok.

Then I sarted the car to find the dash board flashing like a christmas tree.

Car runs ok but no speedo, abs, fuel gauge is all over the place when driving.

Any ideas welcome

Sounds a bit like an earth fault, I had something similar on an old fiesta when the earth strap from battery to bodywork came adrift. Also I guess it could be a faulty dash control module. I'd leave the car off for a couple of hours and see if it clears.

Thanks for the post. I have read about your previous problem and it sounds the same. Where did you get the relay from?

I ideas about the other warning lights? I have a feeling I have removed the wrong fues when

The ignition was on.

The scanner you have sounds good.

Relay from main dealers only, and they had to order it in for me as they had never had to sell one before!

The scanner is a genuine Ross-Tech VCDS - there are members near you with it as well, worth a PM to one of them to see if they can help you out.

I have a spare relay, but I am 60+ miles from you. There are two of the same relay on the CECM, the other one controls fuel pump and ECU from memory.

Would be a good idea to remove the fuel pump or ecu and trying it or would up set more things.

East Lancashire, near Burnley/Blackburn.

I swapped the relays over to prove it was the relay. I got my wipers and washers working but then the car wouldn't start LOL.

The CECM is behind the dash to the lower right of the steering column, kind of behind where the fuse box is if you had removed the fuse box cover and were looking at the fuses from outside the car (if that makes sense)

Assuming you only messed with the fuses inside the car, the most likely one you have disturbed is fuse 6.

had the car in a skoda specialist and itscome back wit2 main faults. can buss powertrain .faulty' intermitant,

fromt and rear washer open circut to ground. the garage said it will need 2 ecu at 400 each plus fitting basiclly

he thinks its beyond economical repaire and we should sell as salavge/project. it must be worth repairing

sounds like a lot of cr*p to me

what parts did they say needed to be replaced
