1.9 TDI 4x4 Clutch/flywheel and Remap Options

Featured Replies

I have recently replaced my trusty Octy I with a 2006 Octy II 1.9 TDI 4x4. I am planning on having a remap in the next few months to give it some much needed extra power but am wondering about the clutch/flywheel implications considering the car does a far bit of boat towing up/down slipways etc.

I have read on here that the 4x4 can't be fitted with the SMF conversion availaible for the 2wd 1.9 as the flywheel/assembly is different.....I'm assuming that the 4x4 must have a bigger clutch than the 2wd then?

At the moment it pulls the boat fine and is much better than the 110TDI Mk I it has replaces. Hill starts and 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear hills are much easier due to the low 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear ratios on the 4x4 and I want the remap to give it some more power for the open road really, it is much slower than the old 110 tdi in the higher gears.

I know Shark are the popular choice but has any one remapped a 105 pd with Custom code or Revo? They both have dealers near me down in Cornwall.

Cheers,

Mark.

yes a map will make a huge difference let me know if you want a quote as im a shark dealer in reading

as regard to the clutch its a stronger unit and you wont need to change that yet i would only upgrade when that clutch starts to fail wich might be along time away ;-)

all the best

Cheers Clive, I figured the Clutch had to be a heavier setup with the cars extra weight and higher towing capacity. Is it correct that there is no SMF conversion to your knoledge? I'm hoping it has plenty of life in it yet though, it has only done 50k miles.

I'm guessing you are probably the nearest shark dealer to cornwall? Do you also fit cruise control? Drop me a Pm on here with a quote if you can.

Only barrier at the moment is insurance, Someone reversed into my parked car a few months ago and combined with a possible map things are looking pricy come renewal time :(

Mark.
