lost week my car started sluggish with smoke coming out the exhaust drove about 50 miles getting more sluggish as i went then the car died in clould of black smoke for exhaush. mechanic had it 1 week and do all sorts of tests on it engine was sound no problems found turn out to be the cat had break up and bloked exhaust causing car not to start.now i have the car toke it for a drive and there seems to be no power in the car at all i could walk up hills faster but will pick up speed although not feeling the some down hill

Slow pick up on the TDi's can be caused by a failing MAF, the same may well apply to the SDI. Try unplugging the MAF and see how it fairs.

Was the cat just removed from the pipe, or a whole new rear section fitted?

Mass air flow sensor, usually located on or around the air filter box with a 4 or 5 pin plug on it,

Unplug it and take it for a drive

Here you go (don't worry about the n75, as the SDI won't have one)
