Thinking of tyres

Featured Replies

Never liked the original Bridgestone turanza that came with the car, especially in winter, but they have done 20k and the rear are still fine. Have to replace the fronts now though as they are getting to the limit. Thinking of trying a mid range sort of tyre as I only do around 7k a year mainly around town with just occasional motorway. Anyone tried the Uniroyal Rain Expert as this looks interesting.

Dunlop Sport Maxx on Monte. Seem to be wearing quick, but there and then I've done 5000+ in 3 months...not happy!

I fitted P6000s to the front of our last Superb and they were good, used them in the past too. Didn't get to change the rears before they, or the fronts, wore out again, but probably would have done that.

I used Blackcirles, that gave local agent, choice of tyres (I think I had about 10 to choose from all budgets accounted for).

Besides which, why buy a rain tyre when it's so dry in the UK? ;-) (about to get wet walking out for lunch...)

Cheers, yes I like P6000s but looking to see what is good but a bit cheaper, was surprised to see Mr Tyres offering the Uniroyals at a little over £51 per tyre I don't want bog standard budgets though. I will have to enquire as to whether the 'Rain Experts' work in the dry weather too!! :)

I found the RainExperts fine on my Scirocco (don't forget to get the XL version...) - equally as good in the dry as the Bridgestones they replaced and better in the wet. Saved about £20 a corner and they lasted a bit longer as well.

Quick tip when looking for tyres - I managed to better all of the online retailers (BlackCircles etc) by going through KwikFits online ordering taking the pay upfront option. I can only assume that as they won't be converted into stock, theres no depreciation factored into the price.

Couldnt find the Rain Experts locally and needed new tyres urgent as mine were pretty close to knackred! I have gone for Avon Zv5's after reading lots of good reviews for these, will report back once bedded in. Cost £140 the two 'fitted'.
