I've tried using my VagCom on my sons Golf 1.4 Mk 4 and a chap in work asked me to check his Bora diesel. On both occasions it failed to do what was expected. Cable test done successfully, car chosen from drop down list but on both occasions no vehicle details found and no modules detected or checked. Any ideas what's not happening? :think:

If it works on your MKI then it should also work on the MK4 Golf & Bora.

Hi guys. Thomasa, I have Lite version. Gizmo68, I'm using a Gendan cable. As you say, it should have worked as the three cars are basically the same. Very puzzling indeed.

My cheap gendan cable had issues with both mine and SWMBO's car but my proper vcds cable works fine. By monkeying around with the settings I could get the cheap cable to work eventually. I think it all comes down component quality, the cheap gendan cables are basically the same as a lot of the eBay cables inside.
