Gtechniq G1 + Ceriglass marathon next weekend if its nice?

Featured Replies

OK I have just ordered the 100ml Gtechniq G1 kit (G1+G2) Direct from Gtechniq with a DW discount(7.5% still not the cheapest but just needed to get it) I already have a load of G3 and G4 left over from when I bought the original 15ml kit. Originally applied to my car back in November (thought it was longer but just checked the invoice) I have however done 20k since then and whilst it still works well enough to drive with no wipers at motorway speeds it is not as good as I like it to be. (before anyone starts ranting about driving with no wipers at speed on the motorway, YOU obviously need to try G1 :p)

I was considering just cleaning all round with G4 like normal and then applying G1 all round (not a fan of the G3 as it is harder to work and doesnt last very long at all. I used it on SWMBO's and the kids cars as I didnt have enough G1 to go round) BUT I have some scratches on my screen and SWMBO's A2 has a lot of wiper haze so I have also ordered some CarPro Ceriglass and a 75mm Rayon pad and plan to attack them both (windscreen only) with the DAS6 pro.

Anyone had any experience of using the Ceriglass with a DA and any tips/recommendations? I have seen a few of the videos on youtube and the results look impressive but not sure about DA speed, pressure, duration etc.

Update time:

Dropped SWMBO off to work at 11:30 yesterday and set to work.

Started by cleaning the octy and her A2 as they both needed it (TBM with noodle mitt)

Dried them both properly and must say that they both cleaned up well as its been nearly 3 months since the A2 was polished. A lot longer for the octy.. There are some tar spots that the mitt didn't remove on the octy so though about claying it but decided that can wait.

Got straight to work on the octy windscreen with DAS6pro 75mm rayon pad and the ceriglass, taped it up the middle and worked half the screen at a time. I decided to work a large area as it helps keep the temp down. At first I found it a bit awkward to control the DA as the 75mm pad makes it topple easier but after realising that it worked best with a fair amount of water and light pressure rather that too dry and too hard, I found the flow. I must have done a good 30 mins on each half and whilst the deeper scratches remain the effect of removing the lighter scratches has made the screen much much nicer.

After finishing with the ceriglass I washed/dried the car again as it does make a mess (glad I moved the A2out of the way before I started :D)

I applied one coat to the windscreen and front side windows(the rest are all still working well from last November so left them alone). I also did the A2 up both sides and the roof (ALL GLASS) leaving the screen as it still needs to be ceriglassed. Then went back and did second and third coats on the windscreen of the octy with 10 mins in between coats.

Removal with the G2 is nice and easy and I am lucky enough to have a super soft cotton pillowcase that is ideal for polishing off.

If I had had more time I would have liked to ceriglass the roof of the A2 as it did have some water spots but that can wait for another time and I still have to try and get the screen done today.

The insides of the octy windows were also done with the pads from the ceriglass kit and they work much better than even the G4.

I will try and get the pics off the iPhone today.

Sounds good, heard only good things about this stuff. Is it just the G1 I need to apply to the windscreen? :)

Like I said when I first looked at it they recommended g1 for the screen and rear if it had a wiper and g3(now5) for the sides. I prefer to use g1 all round though as it works really well and for such a along time

  • 2 weeks later...

Got a question to ask is the g1 and g2 15mm bottles enough to do a few 3-4 cars 3coats on the screens and 1 on the rest of the glass ??

Some people make it go that far, from personal experience I would say no more than 3, and if you are doing large vehicles like Range Rover, for example, work on 2.

Cheers

Steve
