steering wheel controls - Fabia 2 (facelift) 2010- retrofit

Recommended Posts

I'm also interested. My 60 Plate 2011MY FL Fabia has no buttons and it would be nice to have some. Didn't get any replies last time I asked here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/241162-fabia-ii-facelift-mfsw/, so it is a bit of an unknown.

I was considering this wheel: http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=140&menu=%C5%A0koda%7CSuperb%20II which has both MFD buttons and Telephone Buttons, and can take my original airbag. Tempted by getting one with DSG paddles too though.

Skodateile list a few steering wheel controllers:

1K0 953 549 BG (Octy II FL) http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=75&menu=%C5%A0koda%7COctavia%20II%28A5%29%7CVolanty

1K0 953 549 AQ (Octy II 06-08) http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=276&menu=%C5%A0koda%7COctavia%20II%28A5%29%7CVolanty

1K0 953 549 CD (Superb) http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=233&menu=%C5%A0koda%7CSuperb%20II

No idea what (if any of those) would be correct for the Fabia, or even if it uses one of those style controllers or one of the new ring type ones which are actually on the steering column rather than under it. What about wiring? Basically, still have no idea though it does seem more of a faff than I initially expected.

After some digging around, i found this diagram:

http://demo.saleepc.ru/skoda/parts/56/4/149880

Parts 10 or 11 (depending on if you have 3 or 4 spoke steering wheel) are the actual controls. I notice there is some wiring coming off them.

The one i need is part number 3T0959537D WHS . I just rang a skoda retailer, the part is £145.95 inc VAT

But I am not sure what else needs doing

Afterthoughts after reading your post hussein, we would need a controller unit as well as the physical swtich? Assuming i remove the blanking plate where the switch would be, i would expect to see nothing to connect to underneath? If you get my meaning....

I currently have the 4 spoke wheel which doesn't have blanks so I'd need to change the wheel to get controls. Yes, if you do not have a steering wheel controller you will need one as that is what the wheel buttons connect to. I also presume none of the loom and wiring would exist if the controller doesn't exist (it doesn't show up on VCDS on my car).

I'm abandoning this idea here!

Is it not as easy as buying the Skoda Multi-function wheel and swapping it over? I thought about this, as I would have specced it from new, but went for a model sat in a dealership to get it quicker...and get the deal being offered!

I think the steering wheels are quite expensive, and may not come with the airbag inside :(

I have a 4 spoke steering wheel with no blanks and always envyed the 3 spoke.

Went in www.ebay.de (had more results) and typed "fabia lenkrad" or "skoda lenkrad" and found me a steering wheel like this one: http://www.ebay.de/i...=item53f85496b7

Waiting for it to arrive.

Also, planning to buy a new loom (part number: 3T0971584) like this: http://www.ebay.com/...9b5b90e&vxp=mtr which has an extra black cable for the multifunction buttons

Then I suppose all I need after changing wheels, wires and installing same airbag is an VCDS for right code input.

Well fingers crossed, see how it all turns out....

Did you go ahead with this and what was the result? Were you able to install the steering control into a blank wheel and then wire this through with the additional cable or is this a non-starter?
