Thinking of getting rid of the Octy

Featured Replies

I don't know what to do here.

I've always had a soft spot for the Suzuki Swift Sport and one has popped up at a good price at a dealer near me. It's. 58 reg in Black with Silver stripes over roof etc with 44K and FSH and it's going for a great price.

I'm so tempted to go and look at it and test drive but I think I will end up buying it. What do you guys think I should do?

Anybody had one or know anything about these?

I love the looks and equipment but the mpg will be worse than mine.

I'll probally miss the Octy :(

Think very carefully when testing.

I made the mistake of going to a smaller car once. I hated it but was stuck for 4yr.

Also think about what might happen in your life in the time you'll have it. i.e. what if petrol hits £2 a litre what if you have another 2 kids.

Ok might not happen but you do have to consider all the options.

Brother loves his Sport and when I drove it last I couldn't stop smiling. It's a fantastic drive but the ride is hard, has to be run on super unleaded, there's only two tyres that are decent for it because it's an odd size and the boot is tiny. You can fold the seats though. I'll have to double check with him but he drives to Hemel Hempstead and back every fortnight and he averages well over 40mpg. Drive it properly and you won't

I'm assuming that there will be a cost to change, as in more to pay?

Considering how clean and tidy your Octavia is and the money you have spent getting it immaculate I reckon it needs to be keeper.

With the 1.9TDi engine it'll probably outlive most of us on here too.

The initial attraction of the Swift will soon wear off when you are forever stood on petrol forecourts on cold windy winters nights.

I'd miss the boot too, the Octavia isn't brilliant in any one area, it's simply good in all areas.

I reckon you'd miss it more than you realise!

Cant imagine going from an octavia to a swift unless your circumstances have changed. i.e you dont need the extra space. Generally both these cars wouldnt be on your short list as one is a small city car and one is a relatively large family car. If you dont need a big car then there are plenty small cars id have before the swift although they do look quite good. Is it a small car your after?

Thanks guys for all your advice.

Well its sold before i even got a chance to go and see it.It was up for £5495 from a Peugeot Dealer near me.

I guess it was a moment of madness for me because today i decided after all your great advice that i,m going to keep the Octavia.I,ve had it since new (6 years) and there is nothing wrong with it and never has had any problems albeit 2 things in warranty done which was the Flywheel converted to SMF and a noisey n/s/f electric window which was lubed and is all ok.Cars only done 56K now with full Skoda service history so i would be nuts to lose it now.

Thanks Silver for your advice, you hit the nail on the head with that.

Anyway i,m ok now the insanity has passed

Test drive it then, test drive a vrs

anyone who drives a swift sport usually buys one lol and no vrs makes you smile like a swift sport can, closest any modern car comes to how the old hot hatches made you feel!!!!
