Bit of advice

Featured Replies

Just a few quick questions, does anybody know how to replace the glovebox & bootlight bulbs as I want to upgrade them to LED's?

Also has anyone got a guide on how to fit coilovers to a vRS?

For the bulbs, there is just a tiny flat screwdriver and abit off bending.

To early to write a whole guide on how to replace dampers and shocks since I have to go to work, but if noone has written in 10 hours I'll write it down :)!

a small flat head screw driver or trim tool and theyll come out eventually.

i have green leds in mine.

What size of bulbs is it apmaman? I done all the bulbs in the roof last night but forgot sbout the boot

w5w-bulbs, not too long ones tho ;).

Cheers freddy, just ordered some up....lets hope there actually error free like there advertised

yeah the small wedge ones fit. your best getting ones that have a '360' throw of light to make the most of it.

im planning on putting a white led strip in the boot vent hole things. should be easy to splice off the boot light.

Are the w5w bulbs just the same as 501 sidelight bulbs?

Confide: It'd be brill if you could do the guide anytime, I'm itching to get these on but don't really want the headscratching if I get to a point where I might struggle.

yeah they are the same. 501s and w5w

It's really simple.

Undo the wheel, undo the wheel-hub,undo the drop-link, undo the brake-caliper, undo just about everything that is actually tied up to the damper (sorry for the laziness here, but I can't remember all the names. Somebody have to fill in here).

The damper is stuck inside the hub, take a big flat screwdriver and bend carefully them aside.

Hammer the damper upwards so that it almost comes clear from the hub.

Then, release the damper from the top.

Allen + 21 mm to remove them from the top.

It will come loose when you release them and that's why you don't remove it from the hub directly.

Knock it out and hey presto, the damper and spring is off on the front-side!

On the rear it's so straight-forward you don't really need a guide for it.

But here comes one anyways!

Jack the car up and have a spare-jack ready.

Remove the wheel (herp-a-*******-derp), remove the wheel-arch, loosen the bolts the damper is fitted with at the top, jack the spare-jack up so that the thing that holds the spring/damper in the bottom don't drop down directly.

Remove the bolt and nut the holds the damper and remove the jack slowly.

There you go, a loose spring and a loose damper!

w5w, T10, 501 sidelight... many names for one bulb ;).

Brill, thanks for that, hopefully I can get rid of the comedy arch gap now!

Check my pics for how it looks with 30 mm lowering and 18" rims with 225/35/18 ;)!
