Hi Having had my Fabia for nearly 3 weeks now I want to fit my Sony H/U, Mini Disc changer, Sub and amp. Talking to the garage and a car audio shop this can be a problem as if wired wrong it can blow the H/U. Does any one know why this would happen and if it has happened to anyone?

Has anyone had there after market H/U fitted by the dealer and if so what sort of cost was it?

Fitting a head unit is usually very very simple! If I can do it you probably can.

I've never heard of a h/u blowing because of bad wiring, unless you get it very wrong as in the live cable going from the battery straight to the head unit.

Don't bother with a mini disk changer, get a Sony h/u that can read MP3 and get a 6CD changer. I can fit about 120 songs per cd, so times that by 6 and you get a hell of a lot of music.

If you can stretch to one get an Alpine h/u, I have actually got a JVC (I got a nice deal on it) and it is very very good.

Don't forget to change the speakers that are in the car!

Already own the H/U and mini disc changer, it allows me to do long play mini discs (approx 4/5 hours on each disc). Have fitted radios in to many different cars, but never been told that it coiuld blow, thanks.

I was told by car sound that it is easy to blow the head unit if wired wrong on the fabia, i am sure he was trying to put me off doing it myself, i can buy the head unit Dab ariel and blanking plate for
