Fabia 2001 1.4 16v engine light on again and alarm keeps sounding

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just realised I have posted in the wrong catagory, would someone be so kind to trasfer the post to the correct one please??? Cheers, Clive.

The little beast is starting to drive me round the twist. Can anyone assist please before I go completely mad !!!!

I dont think the above faults are related but thought id try a post to try and get to the bottom of this.

The engine light has been an issue since the car was purchased just over a year now. I have had it read and it keeps saying the EGV valve fault. I have taken the throttle body off, cleaned it and had the EGR valve off as well and de-coked it. I have also cleaned the Exit pipe from the EGR in the base of the throttle body/inlet manifold. It runns lumping on idle and hesitates whilst driving under normal progressive throttle positions.

The Alarm. well thats driving me to dispair !! Basically it just goes off when it feels like it. There is no particular pattern to it. I have tried disconnecting the bonnet and boot switches but neither has made any difference. I noticed a mention of a switch on the A pillar somewhere, is this true? Alaso does anyone have any other ideas what I could do with it? I was thinking petrol and a match !!! Believe me its getting close.

If anyone can off any new ideas, please do drop me a line. I would be most gratefull.

Cheers,

Clive.

Any fault codes with the alarm, have you tried deactivating the interior monitoring sensors?

What specifically is the EGR fault, flow to high? Flow to low? Has the valve been adapted after it was removed?
