ABS loom and sensors.....what an absolute nightmare!

Featured Replies

So....my Dad in his bountyful wisdom managed to snap the clip holding the loom to my ABS wheel speed sensor. This had my handbrake light flashing and beeping at me everytime I start the car. Along with the ABS and traction control light remaining on (Don't think its entirely related)

After him suggesting to glue or use electrical tape to hold it in place (ridiculous?) I bought a new loom from Skoda. I foolishly made him fix it considering he was the one who snapped it in the first place.....

He couldnt find the other end of the loom so BUTCHERED my new one....tried to solder it on to the old loom...failed...then used clips and electrical tape to bodge the new clip onto the loom. This solved the red flashing handbrake light on my dash for a wholesome 24 hours.

How much am I looking at for a garage to fit this piece of loom? £40ish for the part...so labour shouldn't be overly much? an hour?

Suggestions for reasons on ABS and traction control light? I've recently changed the hubs so only thoughts so far is the sensors in the hubs which should be a cheap fix.

I had to replace mine after the plug got pulled off. Only took me about an hour to splice it in.

I didn't clip mine to the strut and turning the wheel ripped the wires out of the plug. I did a temporary fix using crimp connectors and electrical tape. A year ago. Oops.
