Superb 1.9 TDI PD 100 Classic 2007 What to check

Featured Replies

I've been to see this car tonight advertised with 56k and seems genuine although no service history.

He did how ever show me evidence with the old mot's from the internet

The car feels like a low miler with no wear of the interior, clutch smooth as silk as was the gear changes.

Going back tomorrow to buy it but what should I check? What would you be checking if you were buying this car?

Thanks for your help :-)

water ingress, wet carpets, glove box. Check under the scuttle panel under the windscreen, make sure its all clean and clear and drain holes are clear.

If it is damp anywhere - carpets etc, it may well have issues on the way, water ingress tends to take out the convenience unit, you dont want that.

If thats all fine, make sure you continue to maintain drain holes

check ALL electrics - courtesy lights, lights under the mirrors etc as an indicator of possible convenience unit problems; check all door locks open/shut instantly with central locking, they do fail. The average annual mileage is similar to mine - but no service history at all? I wonder what oil has been used?

HPi check! And the 100 will drive like a slug!

When you say no service history, do you mean it has no proof, or its just not been serviced?
