Felicia 1.3mpi TBA & VCDS Lite

Featured Replies

Hi

Have a problem doing the TBA on my 1.3mpi with registered copy. I follow all the instructions but when I switch to basic settings after pressing go nothing happens, I don't get ADP RUN just sits with some voltage readings and bin bit readings. There is a Redir Fail message.

ECU is Simos, tried 098 & 001 but no joy anywhere. Have checked all is in order in instructions ref fault codes, battery etc. Just won't do anything.

Anyone had any success doing TBA on this model Felicia?

Thanks

Have just had a response from Ross Tech - apparently you can't do a TBA with this software or even with VAS. Pity that I didn't know that first - not a happy bunny.

Apparently there is a Czech software programme that can do it - but my Czech is non-existent :@

Throttle Body Alignment

Looking at the factory repair manual, the Simos 2P Engine Control Module (ECM) doesn't support doing a TBA which is why neither VCDS nor a registered VCDS-Lite can do this - nor can the factory tool as a matter of fact. The erratic idle is a known issue with these ECMs after cleaning the throttle body but there seems to be no factory procedure to fix this. We've went through quite some efforts to get hands on the factory manuals for this specific engine because they are not available in electronic form (actually paid more for it than you did for your VCDS-Lite license) to be certain that what we are telling you is correct. The workaround we suggested, a software written by one of our Distrubutors, is indeed only available in Czech at this point. I doubt there will be any updates to it considering these cars/engines are quite rare. I've been in contact with him and am trying to get you step by step English/Czech instructions.

I hope this clarifies the situation a bit more and shows that we didn't let you hanging. So you may have paid for a license/function that didn't solve your problem, yet you most certainly got plenty of service that is still working for you to get your car back into working conditions.

Many thanks for your help in trying to solve this problem, I do appreciate your efforts on my behalf. I have searched for some explanation of the method to be used with Motordiag regarding the Simos ECU - the button which says Nacti Eeprom I think is Load Eeeprom, Zapi? = Zapis Eeprom translates as scrap Eeprom so possibly means clear eeprom?? I won't try anything until I get some clarification on what the correct procedure is.

Asked our distrib to give us some brief instructions and he said he'll try and make an english version available - no time frame though. For now, here are some translations...

ID jednotky = CPU identification

Na?ti EEPROM = Read EEPROM

Zapiš EEPROM = Write EEPROM

Factory Reset = Factory Reset - this button is what You need

O programu = About

Pokra?ovat = Next

One of the steps may ask for a fuse (Pojistka) to be removed, the fuse number should be shown.

Just an update - after using the Czech free software it reset all the eeprom on the ECU, sadly it made not the slightest difference to my problem. It even at the end of the programme tells you to carry out a throttle body adaptation using VCDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This of course is exactly what you can't do with this setup.

i could not do it on my 1.3mpi but can one the 1.6mpi with vag com
