VRS fuel comsumption

Featured Replies

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has experienced this. basically pre 10,000 miles on the clock a full tank of fuel in my mk2 fabia VRS would display a range of a bout 380miles now with 12,500 on the clock a full tank now only shows 305 miles. Any ideas?

When you were sitting with a full tank of 45 litres and it was showing 380 mile range.,

i would think you had been getting a shown average of '38 mpg Consumption AVG' just before filling up.

If you had been getting 42 mpg Consumption average it would have shown 420 mile range.

so,

Is your MPG Consumption Average showing '30 mpg AVG' before filling up.

Or do you think it is something different.??

*You would only have had to be driving a little hard before filling up for that to happen.'

Blast it at 22 mpg Consumption before stopping for petrol, fill up and it shows 220 Miles Range.

??

How many miles are you getting for 40-41 litres of petrol/ 9 gallons (40-50 range left in the tank) ?

george

eg, Before stopping, & filling up, & after filled tank shows 560 mile range

If i filled up at the last picture it would show 570 range.

Might only do 300 if i went and booted it for 300 miles

*Ie, the range showing is really just a guide from your Consumption before putting in Petrol.

thanks for the reply sk4gw. just reset the trip computer and went for a short 3 mile drive nice and steady and the range crept up to 315 mile with the mpg getting up to 37mpg. got it booked in for its second service on friday will mention something then. any other ideas of what it might be?

My idea is that it is working perfectly.

Drive a bit easy for another 10 miles or so, & get the 'Consumption showing up to 45 mpg,

the Range will keep increasing.

If you stop for petrol then & filled up it would show 45 miles range.

If it did not, it would not be working as it is designed to.

?? Is this a 2 year, 20,000 mile 'Inspection service' you are away to get?

How much are they asking for that please?

oop North,

they say around £177, but they try it on.

'Flush' not required IMO,

Top up you own washer bottle. £4 less.

Question Environment Charge of £4 for disposing of Oil & Filter

cheers will try that. wow maybe they are trying it on more down here they told me £240 for my second service.

It is an involved inspection, but not much work done.

Full sheet of checks tho, wheels are not off.

New Pollen Filter, Plug Washer, Oil /Filter.

Washer Fluid !! Top up Anti Freeze which if it is at Minimum now will go back to Minimum.

'Environmental charge' is a damn cheek

& a con IMO.

(they get paid for the Burst Oil, they do not pay to get it removed)

3 years before it is Brake Fluid Change

and 4 years untill schedule for a plug change.

See what they are actually saying is being done.

I thought the same when i first got my vrs. Like George said, just depends on how you were driving before you filled up, as the computer estimates a range from how much you were previously using.

And can I just say George, average of 57.7mpg is amazing! I think it's strange how some people can't seem to get much better than 42-45mpg which I think is around the figures quoted for the vrs (correct me if I'm wrong), while others can seem to get much higher. the best I've ever had is around 49mpg which I was pretty chuffed with, and I remember being surprised because I hadn't really been taking much notice of it, or been trying to see what I could get it to. Do you think some engines come out better than others? Or does it entirely depend on how you run it in, driving style etc?

Sorry to the OP for going off topic slightly.

Cheers.

Mike

I think it is the luck of the draw with cars & engines,

but i have only driven automatics for 36 years and know how to hypermile them without having to drive slowly..

The DSG is brilliant in the vRS IMO if you are just travelling along using virtually no braking,

just decelerate manually using the gears & allow the box and TSi engine to do all the upshifts.

(Easier doing it for a good MPG when it is cold and also no traffic about..)
