During my summer vacations I had the good luck to drive for a week my dad's Octavia and I felt jealous of the puddle lights that come with all Elegance models right below the wing mirror.

Besides the fact that they look cool at night, when locking/unlocking the car, out in the country, at night, they proved quite helpful.

So I started a bit of a research for which leds would be perfect for the job. At first I came across these leds which are called "Eagle Eye" and which the seller claims that are waterproof.

Indeed they are as I found out, because a friend of mine managed to drop one by mistake inside a glass of water while examining the led :giggle: and amazingly it survived with no issues what so ever. They are very durable as they got a steel casing and also they are seriously bright, probably the brightest leds I've seen (close to cree leds) plus they are quite cheap (bought a set for £5.50) Only issue is that their profile is too high something like 2cm :( which if installed under the wing mirror it will look terrible sticking out.

SO back to eBay and after a bit of a search I found these "LED Autolamps Round White Marker Lights". More expensive (£11.95) BUT profile is 8mm, they are not only waterproof but fully submersible and the casing is made of rubber so they can be pushed in which means no glue or silicone (I hope). They are not as bright as the "Eagle Eyes" but the light they produce gives a nicer ambient effect which is probably more suitable for such applications.

Anyways sometime soon I will open up the mirror and see what space we got to play with and make sure that they don't look odd sticking out from the bottom of the mirror - I'm hoping that 8mm will not be noticeable and the Fabia will look even nicer in the evenings. Watch this space :)

P.S. If you got any suggestions please let me know.

Damn it, stop taking photos with that Canon!!!

Ow are you going to run lights?? When doors open??

They will light up when the doors are unlocked with the key fob and when the doors are opened for when you are exiting the vehicle. At least that is the plan for now. Basically it follows the interior light's function.

Yea was thinking that you would wire it up to act like interior lights

Have been wanting to do the same, but never found time. I hope you will set an example to follow! Waiting for updates.
