Service Interval confusion: The book disagrees with the dealer.

Featured Replies

I had my 2nd Yeti service yesterday (variable, 38,000miles) and noticed a discrepancy between the service book and the dealer. According to the book at 60,000km (38,000miles) the Haldex oil needs changing but the dealer is telling me it needs to be done every 3 years. Also the diesel filter needs to be done every 30000km according to the book yet the dealer says every 60000miles.

Confusing eh? Has anyone else noticed this?

They assure me everything has been done correctly so I am not too worried but it does make a bit of a mockery out of the service guide.

Incidentally, the service cost me £149 all in (oil, filter, air filter, pollen filter sump plug, screenwash + labour) compared to their initial quote of £217. The first service cost me £160 so great for the price to be going down rather than up. Autosales Cannock btw.

Dealer told me the haldex oil gets changed every 40,000, basically every second variable service. I signed up with a deal with get the 2nd and 3rd paid up front for and I checked then. Personally (and yes, even I admit I over service my cars!) Id not leave it any longer than that. I change the diesel fuel filter on my other car every 12,000 miles ie every second oil change (6 months/ 6,000 miles). Fords recommendation is every 40,000 miles I believe.

Talking to the dealer in France and from the stickers he places on the vehicle and comparing this with the book, I have no idea what should be done when - so I take his advice BUT have a "while you wait" dealer oil changed every 12 months, (which the dealer say's is not necessary)

- (mine's a diesel).

Mine is coming up for it's third variable service (approx 54k) and I shall be expecting Haldex and brake fluid.

Must give Sinclairs a ring for a quote!
