Stage 2 - CAI vs Air Box

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looking at getting my car remapped to Stage 2 some time before Christmas. I'm currently running a CAI but am wondering would there be a negative effect if i went back to the Air Box before going for the map?

Cheers :)

Not really as long as you have what you are running on before the map so the map take the effect correctly.

Some mappers state use a CAI for stage 2 but a lot of folks keep std box. I have tried both and for my stage 2 set up the CAI works best for me.

Not at all!! Really as long as the air intake is a good kit, you should be seeing a little more power over the stock air box.

If it helps at all don't forget about the APR Remapping as we have 25% discount offer on at the moment!! :D

Awesome Mike

Awesome mike you on a sales target this month lol every thread your in it !!

Have you got a back to back test to prove a Cai makes more power than a standard air box ??

AWESOME MIKE LOVES THE SELL LOL

Not really mate just a few things have moved about so I can spend more time on the forums :)

Not to hand no, do you think otherwise? I know with turbo cars the gains of a CAI are not as much as a N/A engine as the air goes through the turbocharger heats up and then the cooler does the most work when it comes to getting cold air in. But every little helps!! :p

dubDEAN, selling is part of what I do but I wouldn't really recommend anything I know doesn't work :p

I just get a bit fed up of the woosh tssh all the time, thats my reason for asking :)

I've got the airbox sat in the loft and i'm seriously considering putting it back on.

Personally i like a cold air fed induction over stock air box. I have also logged higher G reading with my induction over a standard box.

Plus i do like the sound of it dumping!

No mike i agree i believe a Cai is better and v?ta even better the Bigger the turbo ;-)

P.s got any Coil pack adaptors in stock??

i don't like them, i prefer a modded stock airbox, or an custom intake boxed off in the engine bay at the very least, seen several vag cars who have sucked up water in the winter from the CAI as its sits too low in the engine bay imo.

This debate can go on and on and ends up being just personal choice in the end.

Still go back to original point that what ever route you take do it before you get mapped is the best option.

Airbox back on and flog the CAI.

Must admit I'm wary of my cai sucking water up, hence I'm careful with standing water, atleast its on the passenger side so if I'm in doubt I can hop up the curb. Sometimes there isn't a better route available
