best tuning box for vrs 170cr

Featured Replies

anyone recommend a good tuning box for ne of these.

i dont want a remap as i wont be keeping this particular car long

Although i have not tried it, from my research I reckon the one from DTUK looks the best

It is the only one which connects to both fuel pressure and boost sensor / actuator, meaning it can change both. Every other system I've found only has one plug to the fuel pressure sensor.

A bit steep at £389 though, had a similar box (old style) on my range rover and was quite impressed!

Let us know if you buy one how you get on

Could try one of these.

I had one on my old 1.9DDiS Suzuki Grand Vitara and it pushed the economy up by at least 4-5 mpg, more power and eliminated the flat spots.

They have a little dial to 'tweak' the performance which seemed to work quite well. I have no idea about before and after BHP and Torques (not really what I bought it for) but it was noticeably quicker and more responsive.

I only had the car for 16,500 miles (about 12,000 with the chip) over 3 years so I can't be sure if they can damage the car in any way but mine did exactly what I was hoping it would.

I've had a dtuk crd-t box fitted to my vrs for 10 months and have been impressed with it. Never had it RR tested so couldn't confirm the claimed figures but it's definitely quicker and no limb mode or running problems if you're sensible with the settings. Great benefit is that you can take it off anytime of course!

No recommendation for me but be careful to ensure you buy a so called 'digital' tuning box, these generally cost £250-£400 and require connecting to an external power supply, normally direct to the battery. This type of box makes an intelligent stab at modifying the EMS signals to the fueling system and are generally safe to use with a DPF but this will depend on how you drive the car.

Cheaper, and not so cheap, boxes which do not require a separate power connection will be a variation on the 10p resister in a box, or possibly a 40p variable resistor which is designed to fool you into thinking it is an adjustable digital box. These simple make the car overfuel and will cause problems with the DPF and cause extra wear in the engine.
