Making the most of a remap

Featured Replies

Ok guys the time has come I'm finally getting the car remapped, so just wanna see if there's anything else worth doing before hand, I have forge dv008, and cai fitted at the moment. Also have a 3" downpipe/decat and turbo intake pipe to fit. Is there anything else I should consider. It's an everyday car so don't plan on going over the top with it (just yet)

Cheers

Mark

If you've got a CAI, and are doing a zorst before mapping, tell the mapper you've got them. He'll can add a little more boost and fuel to use them.

I won't have full zorst system as I like it quiet, so will just be the downpipe/ decat to standard backbox

That is the most restrictive part so should not make any difference adding a system later on.

Always best to fit what you have and then remap as a mapper may not up fuelling and boost for fitting something later on as your car won't be running right at that point.

I'm gonna have the mechanic fit the tip and decat the day before I have it mapped just incase the decat shows up a fault

one of the killers with these cars is the age of the rubber pipes so always good to go over the boost and vac pipes with a fine toothcomb :D

Lol I already changed a terrible amount of them so I must check them all to be sure or else upgrade to silicone maybe

also extra one way check valves on some of the pipes under the manifold helps stop lost psi

Ye iv replaced a broken pipe under intake Mani, thanks man

Hoping this mods should see me on the better side of 200??

If its a vrs you should see 215-220 on a stage 1 with those supporting mods, but only if everything else is good also. Surprising the difference a couple of lost psi can make. Again another thing to consider is service/oil change, possibly timing belt if it due etc

I think you should see around 205 - 210 BHP as a good measurement to aim for. Any more and you are doing well for a stgae 1

My taughts exactly bowders I'd be happy just to see the first number being 2 really. Anything more is a bonus!

What will Stage 2 get you bhp wise if you have;

Sports cat/DP, cat back, TIP, 007P, FMIC?

The stage 2 is a little more dependant on mapper , but expect to see anywhere between 215-230BHP. Anymore and you are lucky as the small K03s turbo is maxxed out and running out of puff.

However the real benefit of Stage 2 is not the BHP but the torque. Expect to see huge gain over stage 1. Stage 1 is around 220Ibs torque whereas Stage 2 is up around 262lbs. This gives the real power increase feeling over stage 1 and trust me you know it.

The mapper can also play around more with the way the boost is delivered either right across the rev range or more urgent and then dies out quicker that can give a real surge of power but short lived.

I am still smiling with my Shark stage 2

So realistically is only need fmic and cat back also, to go up to a stage 2 tune?

If ya need it checked brocky I'll do the boost leak test for ya. I've also decided to get a forge fmic before I map in the next few months or so.
