Oh dear, I was all set on buying a CAI but then I saw this YouTube video...

I don't care lol

Mine is purely there for the noise :D

Well interesting find , well done. Although the conclusions were as expected to a certain degree.

A cone slapped on a MAF or even with a box around it will get too hot and no power gains but a CAI that has a Cold air pipe and the the cone away from engine temps did get a gain,ok small(173KW veses 169 std KW) but this is the type of kit most folks will buy for the VRS as mine is the same and routed to bumper. I can feel a difference between std airbox and the CAI when i had mine mapped. Ok small but there was a difference. Depends what you are looking for. If you want real power go for a MAP, I have done most mods so the CAI for my set up works well.

Also the VRS std airbox is not bad , but the silly small snorkel in inner wing where air is pulled into airbox is poor unlike the Skyline tested that has a reasonable airfeed from front grill. So a true test should be done on the car we have with the parts and set up etc etc

Shame they didnt show torque really. I would keep your cash in your pocket and buy a rear anti roll bar or something,

Agreed. But I do like the noises.

I was looking at getting a new DV too but I think they're the same story - more noise but little or no power gain.

Biggest improvement to my Octy was fitting the G60 flywheel & clutch

A dv wouldnt give power gains anyway.

A cai gives a boost. But you know how it is these companies have to make it sound better or no one would buy them.

As for sucking up water ive never had a prob and i had milotec grills for ages so all open.

Done right sound and look is spot on n i love mine after remapping correctly. If running std tip tho its pointless imo.
